PEGGY KELLY
visual poet
based in Lauterbrunnnen, Switzerland
I am an East Berlin city-child, since uprooted and replanted here in the Bernese Alps of beautiful Switzerland. Sometime between East Germany and the Swiss Alps, I found myself in South-Africa for two years, falling in love with its wild landscapes, its vibrant peoples, and the eclectic culture-clash of a land that boasts 11 official languages. Having Austrian and Italian forefathers, and growing up speaking four different languages, I am a bit of a multicultural mess myself in the most positive way.
I love and welcome the challenge of capturing the rich and varying beauties of different cultures and places through my camera lens, which to me represents a window into the hearts and souls of these rugged, gentle, at times menacing, and as yet unbridled landscapes. And while the landscapes capture my eye, it is the people and their stories who hold my heart. My camera is my means of sharing that perspective with the world.
I mainly concentrate on the fleeting synergy between people and their surroundings—a perspective where words often falter in their effort to express and explain. So instead, I expose—be it on film or through digital. Still, my background in classical portraits and lifestyle/branding images remains warmly in my repertoire. So message me if you have any projects that require my personal touch and I will be happy to help you capture that fleeting moment and carry it with you into the days and years to come.
Love from Switzerland,
Peggy
